I was looking for a hobby that would help me to get in shape as well as be a social activity. Having moved to B.C. from Saskatchewan a few years earlier, I really wanted to meet people outside of the line of work I am in.
I never dreamed about the friends I would make and how this sport would
become so important in my life. I quickly convinced my husband to join in
the fun, and now we don't know what we ever did before Dragon Boating. Katrina (Pirate)
I fell in love with a sport and a team that challenged me physically and mentally to be my best. Something I have never had from a sport before. The 8 months that we spent paddling flew by and before you know it, I had another family to treasure! Lori M (PIrate)
I am one of the founding members of the Fraser Valley Dragon Boat Club, and have been paddling since 2002. Dragon Boating has been bad for my health. I drink, smoke, eat lavish amounts of food and have learnt to party well into the wee hours. Aside from that, I love the sport and everyone that is involved with it. Ian (Bloody Pirate)
I first started Dragon Boating in 2004 (Thanks DJ). It was late in the season, but Iwas welcomed and went to a few regattas that year. Since joining The Pirates, Dragon Boating has become such a big part of my life. I've met so many wonderful people...I totally love this sport and I think I will be on thewater for many, many years to come. It's in my heart and soul...Keep Paddling Baby!!!
